class=\"functional-hd hd-en\">Food with Function Claims<\/div>\n<div class=\"entxt fs-re fw-re fc-nor ft-lh-re mg-t-s\">\nFoods with Function Claims are foods intended for individuals who are not diagnosed with any disease, excluding minors, pregnant women (including those planning pregnancy), and lactating women.<br \/>\nUnder this system, all foods\u2014including fresh foods (with certain exceptions)\u2014are eligible for labeling as Foods with Function Claims.<br \/>\nPrior to marketing, food business operators are required to submit information on product safety, scientific evidence supporting functional claims, and systems for collecting health-related adverse event information to the Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan.<br \/>\nUnlike Foods for Specified Health Uses (FOSHU), the safety and functionality of Foods with Function Claims are not individually evaluated or approved by the government.<br \/>\nInstead, functional claims are made under the responsibility of the food business operator, based on scientific evidence.<br \/>\nAll submitted information is publicly disclosed on the website of the Consumer Affairs Agency.\n<\/div>\n<ul class=\"indent-w mg-t-ss\">\n<li class=\"num txt jptxt fc-bs fw-re\">1<\/li>\n<li class=\"entxt fs-re fw-re ft-lh-re\">Food with Function Claims are intended for individuals not suffering from any disease (excluding minors, pregnant women (and those planning a pregnancy), or lactating women).\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"indent-w mg-ss\">\n<li class=\"num txt jptxt fc-bs fw-re\">2<\/li>\n<li class=\"entxt fs-re fw-re ft-lh-re\">All food products including fresh produce are subject to this system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"indent-w mg-ss\">\n<li class=\"num txt jptxt fc-bs fw-re\">3<\/li>\n<li class=\"entxt fs-re fw-re ft-lh-re\">Prior to market entry, food business operators are required to submit information, such as on food safety and effectiveness and the system in place to collect information on adverse
